Another year of partnership with Dream Garden, Inc. is in the books! Words can't describe the honor and privilege it was to have spent the past seven weeks capturing the growth, energy, and wonder of these young, beautiful souls. As always, I have compiled some of my footage taken to produce their annual highlight video...well, this year, it's more of a "short film." It was my original intent to create another 1-to-2 minute highlight, but after doing some "experimenting" with the parachute on this past Tuesday, my creative concept was sent into an entirely new direction. It is always my desire to utilize the remaining footage in some form, so to all of my clients: Do not be surprised if bonus edits are gifted to your inbox in seasons where my bookings and workflow are a little slow!

Dream Garden is an after-school educational and enrichment program that serves children, youth, and their families, who primarily reside in the West End community of Birmingham.  This inner-city community is commonly associated with low socioeconomic standing. We believe that all children possess the potential for growth that cultivates leaders for our community.   Since our establishment in 2003, we have helped foster dozens of children into leaders in our community. Many of our students are the first in their households and families to either finish high-school, as well as attend college.  We encourage all of our students to either go to college, or do some kind of trade to better their chances in the job market.  We also keep in contact with our students beyond high school, whether they go to college or get a job, by assisting them in areas of need to ensure a successful outcome as they transition into adulthood.  Educational and enrichment services include after-school tutoring, counseling, meals, and recreational activities. Our staff consists of a variety of professionals and volunteers. Our professionals have over 45 years of teaching experience in the public school system, and over a decade of experience in counseling and behavioral/emotional therapy. Our volunteers range from individuals who have developed through the Dream Garden program, to various individuals and churches nationwide. Summer camp is a seven-week program held annually in June and July. At Dream Garden Summer Camp, children experience fun, games, and academic enrichment, which includes Sign Language and Art.  This year's special activities included the Art of Storytelling by Nina Reeves; Drama Classes by Don Garrett; and visits from The McWane Center, The Birmingham Zoo, The Southern Museum of Flight, and Space One Eleven Arts. Our daily schedule consists of: - Morning Devotion - Music  - Exercise - Indoor/Outdoor Recreation - Art  - Reading - Counseling - "Azizi" and "Boys to Men" classes - Lunch To register your child, or for more information, please visit www.DreamGardenInc.com.
